Mission/Goals

The AHSRA Grassroots Action Center uses online organizing, social media and real world action to move forward with 21^st Century transportation solutions for the nation.

Our goals are to:

• Build a stronger high speed rail movement and active base of citizens. To accomplish this we use innovative organizing and communication tactics to expand local leadership and public support for 21^st century transportation.
  
  
• Advance transportation policy. We work closely with our supporters and other high speed rail organizations in the grassroots community. We offer advocates effective ways to make their voices heard on important transportation policy decisions that impact our quality of life. Through action alerts, advocates are encouraged to vote on certain issues that affect high speed rail policy decisions.
  
  
• Generate media coverage of high speed rail related issues that are of importance to the public. We continue to build our media presence in order to generate fast and accurate coverage of breaking news on issues that are of critical importance to make high speed rail a reality in the United States. We also train advocates to more effectively use the media to get their voices heard.
  
  
• Build civic participation and educate the public. The AHSRA Grassroots Action Center informs and mobilizes our supporters and ensures that our voice is heard on transportation issues that matter. We monitor the actions of elected officials and powerful special interest groups and hold them accountable for their actions.

Our Opportunity

Every six years, the federal government decides how it’s going to spend transportation money. This year is our chance to make sure that we shift to a 21st century transportation system. President Obama’s announcement of stimulus funding for 13 high speed rail projects nationwide has pushed the U.S. into a new phase of transportation modernization. Now, we must continue looking forward and build on this momentum. The AHSRA Action Center works hard to make sure that Congress keeps prioritizing high speed rail and shifts spending from more highways to clean, efficient transportation.

The AHSRA Grassroots Action Center will be working to raise the profile of high speed rail by building grassroots support, garnering media attention and getting community leaders like mayors and business owners to join the call for 21st Century transportation.
